Prisoner Jack Reeder Given Extra Jail Time for Car Theft and Drug-Driving

A serving prisoner has had his jail term increased after admitting a string of further offences, including vehicle theft, drug-driving, and assaulting a police officer.

Jack Reeder, 34, of Seafield Road, Hove, is already serving 34 months’ imprisonment for robbing the Co-Op in Ham Road, Shoreham, on 10 May.

While in custody, detectives continued their investigations into a stolen car taken from Bushby Close, Lancing, in the early hours of 27 March. The vehicle was tracked on multiple ANPR cameras and pursued to Saltdean, where the driver abandoned it and fled.

A short search followed, with officers assisted by Police Dog Hox, who successfully tracked and detained the suspect. The driver was identified as Reeder.

He later failed a roadside test for cocaine and cannabis and assaulted an officer while in custody. Reeder was arrested and charged with:

• Aggravated vehicle taking
• Failing to stop for police
• Theft of a vehicle
• Two counts of drug-driving
• Driving without valid insurance
• Assaulting a police officer in the execution of their duty

He appeared before Brighton Magistrates’ Court on 29 October, where he pleaded guilty to all offences. Reeder was sentenced to a further 24 weeks’ imprisonment, to run consecutively to his current sentence.

He was also banned from driving for 18 months.
