A man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted grievous bodily harm following a violent assault in Worthing.
Police were called to Montague Street at around 11.30pm on Sunday, 1 June, after reports that a man had been attacked with a rolling pin.
The victim, a 47-year-old man, was assessed at the scene by paramedics. Officers began an immediate search for the suspect, who had fled the area on foot.
With the assistance of police dog PD Raven, officers tracked down a man hiding behind the stairs of a basement property nearby.
A 45-year-old man from Portsmouth was arrested on suspicion of attempted grievous bodily harm with intent, possession of a Class B drug, and burglary in connection with a separate matter.
He remains in custody while the investigation continues.
