A 59-year-old man from Hove was detained on suspicion of sexual assault on Thursday (13 November) following a public appeal for information. He remains in police custody as enquiries continue.
Officers say the investigation centres around incidents in which women were approached by a man while exercising or resting after exercise on Hove Lawns and surrounding areas.
The suspect is reported to have engaged victims in conversation—typically between 4.30am and 9.30am—before allegedly sexually assaulting them over their clothing.
Sussex Police are urging anyone with information that could assist the investigation to come forward.
A spokesperson said: “Anyone with information is asked to contact police online or via 101, quoting Operation August, occurrence 47250215343.”
