Brighton & Hove City Council will fly the Trans flag this weekend to show its continued support for Trans, Non-binary, and Intersex (TNBI) communities as the city prepares to host Trans Pride Brighton 2025 on Saturday, 19 July.

The annual celebration — now recognised as Europe’s largest Trans Pride event — kicks off with a protest march beginning at Victoria Gardens. Speeches start at 11am, with the march setting off at 12 noon, heading toward the seafront.

For those joining the accessible march, the meeting point is in front of the Old Ship Hotel, with a free accessible taxi service running between the Corn Exchange and the park venues throughout the day.

    A City-Wide Celebration

The day will feature performances and events across multiple venues, including:

    • A band stage and stalls at New Steine Gardens
    • An acoustic stage at Dorset Gardens
    • A makers’ market at The Brighton Dome

Brighton & Hove City Council’s LGBTQ+ Workers Forum will also be hosting a stall at New Steine Gardens to offer information on council support for trans residents and communities.

    Grassroots Power and United Pride

Founded in 2013, Trans Pride Brighton is run entirely by volunteers and celebrates the TNBI community as artists, performers, and everyday individuals living authentic lives. This year, the event joins forces with Brighton Pride under the banner of United in Pride — a two-week festival of diversity, empowerment, and unity.

The United in Pride initiative aims to bring LGBTQ+ people together through arts, performances, educational workshops, and family-friendly events. It creates a platform for LGBTQ+ individuals, businesses, and community groups to connect, celebrate identity, and promote inclusion.

    Council’s Commitment to Equality

Councillor Emma Daniel, acting cabinet member lead for equality, diversity and inclusion, said:

“Like every year, we’re very proud to support Trans Pride and stand firmly beside our TNBI residents and communities. We are proud of them, and we will endeavour to be leaders that they are proud of in turn.

Trans Pride creates a safe and inclusive space for everyone to voice their support for trans rights and celebrate the trans, non-binary and gender-diverse community in all its greatness, bravery, creativity and joy.”

    She added:

“LGBTQ+ people in Brighton & Hove, the UK, and around the world must be able to live authentically with dignity, safety and respect.”
